MEET THE 5 MEN WHO WERE ABLE TO GET THE BETTER OF MUHAMMAD ALI INSIDE THE RING

Muhammad Ali is a name that needs no introduction. 3-time World Heavyweight Champion, Olympic gold medallist and a champion of the people outside the ring. A man who loved to brag and backed it up with performance. The Greatest is truly a legend.

His record speaks for itself. 56 wins in 61 fights and 37 of them knockouts. More often than not, he was the last man standing. But while he was an extraordinary human being, he was still human. He did lose, albeit just 5 times in a career spanning 2 decades, but it did happen. And 5 different boxers inflicted defeat on him.

So who were these 5 individuals? Let's take a look:

1. Joe Frazier

He was the first to defeat him ever. It happened in 1971 and Frazier won by unanimous decision.

2. Ken Norton

It was an underdog victory by Norton in 1973 and he broke Ali's jaw in that match.

3. Leon Spinks

It was a split-decision victory for Spinks in their 1978 bout which went 15 rounds.

4. Larry Holmes

In 1980, Holmes owned Ali and the latter's trainer had to step in during the 10th round to stop the fight. Ali looked a shadow of his former self.

5. Trevor Berbick

Berbick has the distinction of being the last to beat Ali. In 1981, in what was Ali's last fight at the professional level before hanging up his gloves, Berbick beat him via a unanimous decision.
