DODGERS NEWS: LA ALUM FINDS NEW HOME IN TAMPA BAY

The Tampa Bay Rays have bolstered their bullpen by adding former Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Edwin Uceta to their major league roster. The 26-year-old right-hander, who has been playing with Triple-A Durham, is expected to step into lower-pressure situations for the Rays.

Uceta's performance with Durham this season includes a 7.00 ERA and a solid 21:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 18 innings of work. His experience, albeit limited at the major league level, includes a stint with the Dodgers where he appeared in 14 games.

During his time in Los Angeles, Uceta accumulated a 6.64 ERA and struck out 25 batters, while also recording a 1.52 WHIP over 20.1 innings pitched.

After leaving the Dodgers, where he had been from 2016 to 2021, Uceta moved through several organizations, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets, and Chicago Cubs, before joining the Rays in December 2023.

The Rays are hopeful that Uceta's addition will provide depth and versatility to their pitching staff as they navigate the season ahead.
